Only One Word to Describe It

6 Sep

They say a picture’s worth a thousand words, but if you ask me, there’s only one word that comes to mind when I see this photo: Happiness, both in front of and behind the camera. Continue reading

Being an Uncle Isn’t All Good

21 Jun

They say there’s no downside to being an uncle.

You can play with a kid, get him or her all riled up, laugh, always be on his or her good side, etc … and then, when things go sour, you just hand the kid back to the parents and they deal with it.

And for the most part, I agree with that. It’s always fun spending time with my niece, Abby, whether it’s in person or on the phone as I drive home from work. And when she gets cranky, well, that’s not my problem. Continue reading

Two Cute

4 May

Two years ago today I became an uncle, and it still qualifies as one of the happiest days of my life.

I say one of and not the happiest because since that day, as I have watched her grow up, Abby has brought me many other days of happiness.

There was the day I first saw her smile, the day she fell asleep on my chest, the days she came to visit me for the first time in Boston, the day I first saw her walking, the day I heard her say my name for the first time, and many others.

I’m sure being a parent has similar, if not greater, joys, but until then, I can’t think of anything in my life that I enjoy more than being than Abby’s uncle. Continue reading

Get Abby a SAG Card

8 Apr

Wanted to share the third video I made with my niece, Abby.

It’s definitely the best of the trilogy — partly because she’s totally cute in it and partly because I finally learned how to use my editing software to, you know, edit.

The video’s only 40 seconds long, so give it a quick play. As I said, Abby’s totally cute in it.

And if you smile, why not share it on your Facebook page or in your Twitter feed? Here’s the link:

Yes, There’s a "Sequel"

24 Feb

Last week, I told you about the video I made that shows my niece wearing my shoes. If you watched it, you probably saw that it was actually a very amateurish-looking commercial for my employer.

So what was the deal? Continue reading

An Addict and an Enabler

22 Feb

They say admitting you have a problem is the first step in curing yourself of an addiction, and while I hate to make light of addiction, I must say to you all: Hello, my name is Martin Lieberman and I am addicted to cupcakes.

I have no willpower, so I am helpless whenever I see one of those mini-cakes with frosting on them.

I’ve known of this problem for some time, of course. I mean, why else would I have gotten so up-in-arms about Johnny Cupcakes not selling actual cupcakes?

But it’s gotten worse lately. Continue reading

My Niece, the Star

16 Feb

I’ve now become that guy.

My 21-month-old niece, Abby, was doing something cute when we were on vacation a couple weeks ago, so I took a quick video of it and now I’ve posted it on YouTube.

For some reason, Abby has a fascination with shoes. And in this video, you’ll see her wearing mine — even though they’re a bit too big for her little feet.

But she doesn’t care. She’s having a good time.

And so was I, watching her.
