Must See TV, According to Me

For the past few years, at the start of every TV season, I’ve written a blog post about what shows I plan to watch.

But a funny thing occurred to me last week: I never do close the loop and let y’all know what shows I followed through on and am still watching at the end of the season.

After all, my “plans” are rather ambitious in September, what with so many new shows looking so promising and others getting a clean slate with a new TV season. That’s why it doesn’t take long for my DVR to get backed up, and for me to get behind on some shows.

If you’re like me, that may make you concerned that I’d spend all day and night watching TV.

Well, it gives me great pleasure to let you know I’m not a total couch potato.

And to prove it, here’s a week at a glance of what I’m watching now, or was watching until the show’s season ended:

Monday: How I Met Your Mother, Smash

Tuesday: Ringer, New Girl

Wednesday: Modern Family, Happy Endings, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23, Revenge

Thursday: Community, 30 Rock, The Office

Friday: Shark Tank

Saturday: Saturday Night Live

Sunday: CBS Sunday Morning, The Amazing Race, Veep, Girls

You’ll notice Glee, Grey’s Anatomy, and Gossip Girl are all no longer on the list. Yes, I finally broke those habits this season, and I couldn’t be happier about that. (Thank you. Thank you very much.)

So that list of shows leaves me plenty of time to be tuned in and also have a life.

And now that’s even more true as the season comes to a close and my favorite shows go off the air for a few months. (Cue sad trombone.) But that’s a good thing. I especially like having a life in the summer.
