Down Goes Santa Claus!

16 Dec

It’s that kind of lazy Sunday here in Brookline. I slept in, I’ve made some French Toast, I’m watching the Patriots beat up on the Jets (again), I’ve done some apartment cleaning, I’m avoiding cleaning off my car because there’s no real need for me to drive anywhere for at least five days, I’ve got a couple new DVDs to watch after the football game, I called some friends to catch up, I’m debating baking a cake, the bed’s not made, I haven’t showered … and it’s good that I did my laundry yesterday so I don’t have to fight for the machines today, which means I don’t have to leave my apartment at all, and life is pretty good. This was a well-timed snow — or rain or sleet or whatever it’s doing outside — day.

(And btw, that photo came from Boston.com, though I sort of wish I had taken it.)

Good Times Never Seemed So Good

30 Oct

What a great day for a parade!

Perfect fall weather, with blue skies and mild temperatures, plus my boss gave us her blessing to go … it all worked out perfectly.

And the parade itself was awesome. I headed down to Copley Square around 11 to meet up with Nina, staked out my place in front of 545 Boylston St. (not too far from where I was in 2004), and was ready for when the Sox came rolling through.

I thought the parade would lose something without the water component, but I have to say, the second the duckboats got to Copley Square — coincidentally, the same time as when the sun moved to be right in the way of some picture-taking — and the crowds went crazy, I forgot there was anything lacking. Falling All Over

28 Oct

Some days just scream out to be photographed. Today is a great example. Perfect blue sky, colorful leaves in trees … awesome. Thank God I had my camera handy. This pic has desktop written all over it (if you have a Mac, that is).

Tedy! Youk! Martin!

1 Sep

As if there wasn’t already enough going on in the Coolidge Corner general area today, Tedy Bruschi was doing a book signing at Brookline Booksmith.

I may not be a huge Patriots fan (at least not as big as I am a Red Sox fan), but you gotta love a guy who battles back like Bruschi has.

And hey, I love a good book signing.

So I waited in the line — which snaked down Harvard St. and about halfway up Green St. — for an hour and got my book signed.

And it was pretty cool to see everyone walk out of the store with a big grin, relating what inspirational words he told them. Tedy shook my hand, signed the book, and gave me a little smile.

Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Continue reading

Sox Shots

10 Mar

If you’re interested, I’ve posted photos from Monday, when I went to see the Red Sox in Fort Myers. To see them, just click on this link. Enjoy!

Picture This …

9 Mar

As promised, more pictures from my trip to the Bahamas have been posted here. I didn’t post all of them because in typical fashion, I took many photos of the same things (beaches, beaches, and more beaches), but I did post a lot because I think many of them are really good. So, enjoy. Click here to see the pictures.

Hey, I Know That Guy

1 Aug

If you turn to page 82 of the new Improper Bostonian (with Josh Beckett on the cover), you may see a familiar face smiling and standing in front of the Bronson Gates on the Paramount Pictures studio lot (and yes, holding up a picture of the Improper).

It’s me (big surprise), and it’s a picture taken during my recent trip to L.A.

That picture in particular was taken by Todd when I visited him at work. (He actually had to take it twice until I got it just right. This one here is the other one we took.)

Alright, so it’s not the “Improperazzi” or the “Proper Bostonians” section (which I still would love to be in one day), but this has to be the next best thing, right?

It’s definitely better than the “Improper Impersonals,” that’s for sure. I’ve already been in that section (against my wishes).

California Dreamin’

8 Jun

As promised, here’s a link to all my photos from my trip to Los Angeles last week (minus a handful that were deemed “unworthy of public viewing”). There are two separate photo albums, and each one covers two days (it’s easy to switch from one to the other, just click on “Browse all albums (2)” and then scroll down.) Be sure to read my captions for explanations of what everything (and who everybody) is.

If you want some context, here’s my recap of Friday, my recap of Saturday, my recap of Sunday, and my recap of Monday.

And fyi, unlike those used with the daily recaps, the photo above is actually one of mine.

Round Two

10 May

After last night’s game, I couldn’t help but post this photo again.

This One’s For Evan …

… and all the other Yankee fans out there.
